California Building Code Chapter 7A WUI zone map updated for 2026 — more SD backcountry homes now fire-rated roofing required
The 2026 update to California Building Code Chapter 7A expanded the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) zone map based on post-2025 fire-season analysis. Alpine, Ramona, Julian, Jamul, and parts of Fallbrook saw boundary expansions — meaning more SD County homes now require Class A fire-rated roof assemblies on re-roof.
